VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, an international court with its seat in Hamburg, Germany, has the following vacancy:

Associate Press Officer (P-2)

(Part-time 50%)

Functions: Under the supervision of the Registrar, the main tasks of the incumbent include:

- Serving as the focal point on public information activities for the Tribunal;

- Drafting and disseminating press releases, preparing information materials;

- Developing and maintaining the ITLOS website using the content management system TYPO3;

- Answering general inquiries about the Tribunal;

- Organizing and handling media relations of members of the Tribunal and of the Registry;

- Coordinating the internship programme;

- Organising and giving guided tours and presentations on the Tribunal;

- Maintaining records to support public information activities, such as electronic archives of press clippings and distribution lists.

Qualifications and experience: University degree, preferably in public information or related fields, with at least two years of work experience, relevant international work experience is desirable. Excellent knowledge of English or French with working knowledge of the other and computer literacy are required. A good knowledge of German will be an advantage.

The Tribunal reserves the right to appoint a candidate at one level below the advertised post.
